The Asnani Lab

seeks to understand

the molecular pathways leading to heart dysfunction in

patients treated for cancer.

Some of the most successful cancer treatments have toxic effects on the heart.

We use zebrafish and mouse models, coupled with studies in patients, to define the molecular pathways that drive heart dysfunction in patients treated for cancer.

Our goal is to develop new ways to protect the heart during cancer therapy.

What we learn from cancer drugs may help us understand how heart disease arises in patients without cancer.
